Last Word Before Election

Finally, almost over. It seems like this election has gone on forever. Never has it been so divisive and toxic. Lie flying through the air and mud flung like never before. The hate and evil raised up from Trump has awakened a sleeping giant and has mobilized a lot of very scary people who were probably best left to their rest.

My final observations of this election cycle will not be polite. They will  not be measured. I’m jut freaking annoyed! First, I support Hillary. Like many, MANY people do. Every bad thing I hear about her, and I have heard it all since Bill’s tenure in the White House, fail to hold up to good old fashioned research. Read an article. Engage. Everything you hear about the Clintons, come from people who don’t know them, weren’t there when whatever went down went down, and usually just heard it from some drunk talk at the urinal, or worse, Fox News. 25 years of investigations and nothing has been found. Which means she’s either innocent of the charges or she is so smart she has avoided prosecution in the face of these endless probes; in which case I feel it makes her an even better candidate. To do that is the act of a genius, because no one has ever done it before in the history of this country.

People say they don’t like her because she’s dishonest. She’s a politician. Of course she’s dishonest, but only about 28% of the time. The rest of the time she is truthful. Trump however has been proven to be dishonest over 80% of the time. He even lied about something he said on live television barely an hour after saying it. Everything that Hillary is accused of, Trump is also guilty of, more so  in a lot of cases. The only difference is he really is guilty and she is only believed to be guilty.

I have seen smart  people turn into complete idiots during this election. Trump supporters will rationalize ANYTHING. He could release a video of him screwing  a mother and her under age daughter and they will just say he’s promoting family values. I think defending him actually destroyed brain cells, by the estimation of his supporters. A panelist on a talk show also claimed that Trump does indeed pay his bills. No, he doesn’t. I have read countless stories of contractors he has left high and dry. He simply thinks he doesn’t have to pay if he doesn’t want to. He then gets his Trump Foundation to funnel in some money for himself. Of all the crap that man has  pulled, why is none of it reported? It’s verifiable, it’s proven and it’s real, but no. Maybe you say things he said 10 years ago have no bearing now. Okay. Then why are Hillary’s words from the past fair game? If you’re going to play by those rules, you have to expect the other side to play by them as well. It doesn’t really matter I guess. It doesn’t matter how much you tear away at Hillary. No matter how bad you make her look, it will never make Trump a better candidate. She could commit murder on national television and I would still proudly vote for her over Trump. Let’s talk about his Russian ties. Let’s talk about his Bromance with Putin. Let’s talk about his outrage over foreign powers,  such as China, yet check out where the clothes that bear his brand are made. CHINA! God damn it people! What’s it going to take for you to see him for what he really is!? The quick facts are Hillary IS qualified. She is not guilty of any wrong doing. What she did many other politicians before her, including George Bush and Reagan, also did. In fact, under Bush Jr, there was a higher body count when it came to embassy attacks. Millions of emails deleted. Tell me how Hillary’s emails mean anything compared to that.

If you’re voting for that man, you are stupid. Flat out. His policies are ridiculous. They are the stuff of Saturday morning cartoons, only the joke will be on us. That wall will never get built, and  if it does, it won’t be done until long after his first term is over. This is all an ego trip for him. Can you really see that man up at 4 in the morning dealing with an international crisis? Him in the Situation Room? He will go right for the nukes, you know it. I know a lot of his supporters love him for that, but those are the real idiots. I have seen these people and got a sample of how they think and deplorable doesn’t even cover it. They must all live on a steady diet of Red Bull and lead paint chips. Whenever they speak I just want to slap them and tell them to shut the hell  up! They base all their beliefs on the words of Fox news and all the other Conservative pundits who, despite their intelligence, bend over backwards to defend and boost up this nightmare of a human being.

Basically, if you aren’t voting for Hillary because you just don’t like her, you should still vote for her. You’re not voting for your new best friend. You’re voting to put someone who is tough, smart, diplomatic and strong enough to face the challenges this country poses in the seat of the president. She may be a bitch. So what? As Tina Fey once said, bitches get s**t done! (paraphrasing). All these calls to impeach her on day one and plans to hit her with constant investigations should she win are ridiculous. It’s actually almost treasonous to plot like that about your president. Openly stating you will not participate in your own duties because of that candidate.

Trump will lose, but in a sense he has won. He has empowered  an army of racist, inbred immature idiots and Nazis. Literally. If you are with Trump, you are aligning with honest to God Nazis. A simple Google search of Hillary’s accomplishments will show you how effective she is and how hard she works. The fact that the FBI has investigated her seven ways from Sunday but still found nothing to prosecute her on should be enough. She and Bill aren’t rich or powerful enough to escape that kind of scrutiny. I don’t know. It just seems like such an obvious choice here. If you prefer to believe heresay, lies and baseless accusations, you’re a Trumper, and you are literally what’s wrong with this country.

Let’s just get to the 8th, get Hillary elected and maybe then we can go about the business of living once more.

So the first Presidential debate is about to begin and tempers are flaring all around. There are just two points I’d like to look at before this happens.

First, I keep hearing people complain about how both candidates are terrible and they aren’t even going to vote because of that. Well, I got news for you. That’s how you end up with two candidates you don’t like. It’s because you didn’t vote this has happened. I don’t understand how two people that are lightning rods for such hate could have managed to lock in the nomination. So few people have anything positive to say about either candidate, for one reason or another, so I wonder in a system where we vote for our candidates, how did they wind up on top? Someone voted for them. A lot of someones. The time for bitching about it is over. You don’t like who  is offered up for president? Next time get off your ass and vote.

Next, why wouldn’t Hillary make a great president? I hear so many people automatically say she wouldn’t right after saying Trump wouldn’t either. I wonder to myself how they make this assertion. What evidence do they have to prove Hillary is not fit for the job? She has legal experience, foreign policy experience, diplomatic experience. She’s an intelligent, hard working legal professional who has built a career of helping people and reaching out to the less advantaged. The Clinton Foundation helps people all around the world. I have read articles, seen testaments and have just researched the Hell  out of Hillary and while I agree she has no specific presidential experience, she has logged plenty of miles in that arena over the years. She has as much as experience as any other presidential candidate ever has before her. There’s no evidence to suggest she couldn’t be a great  president. Do you have any? Or have you based  your opinion of her only on some of the many rumors and lies that have been spread about the Clintons  since Bill left the White House? The honest to God truth is if there had been any illegal activity and any evidence to prove it, Bill and Hillary would be in jail; or at least paying out huge fines but the reality is they broke no laws and that’s that. What’s that? You say they just bought their way out of the trouble? Oh, okay. You can prove this? You have evidence of them paying people off? You don’t. Oh, I see. Well, how can you prove this accusation? You can’t? Oh. Okay. You just know because they have money and that’s how all people with money get out of trouble. You heard someone say they were guilty? Okay. And this informant is trustworthy? They haven’t been paid off by someone else with an agenda? For every powerful person out there, there’s an army of opportunists who are willing to lie their asses off for a decent paycheck. The point is we don’t know who is going to be a good president or who’s going to be a bad one, but to proclaim someone with Hillary’s credentials as a bad president off the bat is ignorant. People thought Obama was going to be bad(some still do) but he, factually, proved everyone wrong. He rebounded the economy, steered us out of the recession Bush got us into. He’s made huge strides in the civil rights arena now that we have legal same sex marriage. In my book that’s good. I want higher taxes for the rich. I want stricter gun laws. I want this country to pull its head out of the muck and accept the fact that God is not in charge of everything. A lot of people are making hay about Clinton’s 64% estate tax, but what many fail to add is that it’s for larger estates. Not everyone is going to be affected by it and those who are are rich enough to afford it. I know no one likes taxes, but the fact is government isn’t a magical beast that just makes money. You want that overblown military? You’re going to have to pay for it.

The final point is that no matter how bad a president you think Hillary will be, she WILL be better than Trump and that’s the important thing with this election. You don’t like Hillary, fine, but tearing her down doesn’t make Trump better. Not voting for Hillary is voting for Trump. It’s one of those difficult moments when you have to swallow that bitter pill, that is if it’s bitter for you. If you’re a reasonable person you will see this simply as voting for the more qualified candidate. Don’t worry, Hillary haters, you can vote her out in 2020 and hopefully by then the Republicans will have found a not-terrible person to run. Good luck with that.

Election Day 2014

The day to clean house has come and gone and it looks like the voters decided to not change all that much. After all the drama and poor decisions and disasters in our nation’s capital, people seemed to have completely missed the point. I’m actually quite surprised at some turn outs. Rick Scott has been re-elected in Florida, thereby maintaining its status as worst state in the country. He adopted a dog to win one of his campaigns and then returned the poor thing after winning. I’m sorry, but that one instance of inhumanity is all I need in order to know what kind of man he is, and that anyone would want him to run their state baffles me. Many other Repub incumbents are keeping their jobs, for some unknown reason. Or maybe there is a reason. Too many people going to the voting booth informed only by rumors or baseless opinions from others. People are just too lazy to research the candidates. They usually will just vote for the guy they voted for last time. That would explain a lot of the repeats I’m seeing tonight. Makes me wonder what’s worse. No vote, or an uninformed vote. Take a look back at all the trouble the Repubs have dragged us through over the past five or six years. A shut down. A credit downgrade. Another batch of wars we’ll never pay off. And then, our president gets tagged as the scapegoat for the woes we now face, when he actually has dragged us up from the muck left by the guy before him. He’s grown our economy, reduced our debt and unemployment but so many people will never know that because they either don’t believe it or just plain won’t hear about it because it’s one of those things you really need to research. If you say that this country is in pretty bad shape now and that’s on Obama, I got news for you. You should check out what shape we were in before Obama. We had a negative GDP. We were bleeding money on a daily basis and our stock market was at its weakest. Today, our debt has been cut (Yes, it has. It’s still huge, but it’s less now than it was six years ago) We have enjoyed a long period of job growth in the private sector. You don’t like how the president has been doing his job? Well, I applaud his work. Especially when you factor in that what he’s had to do, he’s done not only with no support from Congress, but actual opposition from them. He’s been fighting the right wing every step of the way. If you wanted a better country now, you should have voted for representatives who would work WITH the president rather than the ones who chose to declare a war on him. And today, many voters have ensured that we are in for years of more madness. More right wing whackos getting the high sign so we’re going to have people who believe that the Earth is only a few thousand years old and man magically appeared one day setting the rules for the rest of us. It seems like Mitch McConnell and his cohorts could all gather in the street and murder puppies and babies in broad daylight and Obama would be blamed for it.
It also cuts both ways. There are some blights on the left. Gov. Jerry Brown got re-elected tonight and I have no idea why. The only good thing he did was stand up against Prop. 8. After that, it’s been terrible. Rising taxes and we’re still no closer to legalized marijuana. I just would like it legalized for the tax money. With the tax money this state could get from that it would actually put us in the black and Brown could continue with his idiotic projects without dumping the expense on the taxpayer. I mean, really? Was anyone paying attention to what was happening to this state at all?
Maybe after reading this you may think I’ve lost faith in the system and that’s not true. I still believe it can work. It has before. I feel it’s sad that the people who HAVE lost faith in the system are the ones we just elected. They don’t care about you or me or this country. They’re just loading up the lifeboats and then waiting it out until retirement. I’ve always felt there need to be changes. Politicians should be paid the median average income from their district. They should have to live on the same level as those they represent. I really don’t think they should be paid at all, really. It used to be that they weren’t, and now they really don’t need to be paid. They’re all already rich. How many schools could be saved with one paycheck of John Boener’s? I don’t see how our elected civil servants can sleep living as they do while those they are supposed to fight for are struggling. Maybe then we would get people in the jobs who actually want to do the work, not just enjoy the perks.
Well, America. You have spoken. So now, whatever happens after this is on you. God help us all.
