If You Didn’t Think Humanity Was Doomed Before,

What has happened to the human race? Were we always such monsters or did that come about via evolution? We’re supposed to be the best of all. We have the rare ability to think and make moral judgments, yet the choices we make time and time again make me wonder if we aren’t just evil to the core.
I have been hearing a lot of alarmist talk over the news that California, my home, only has one year of water left. Of course, if our Governor had half a brain, he would have seen this issue coming down the way and done something in the way of finding a solution instead of blowing the state’s money on a light rail system no one will use, but I digress.
I read an article a few days ago about how Nestle Corporation believes that the public has no right to clean water and are doing all they can to lock down as much water as they can so that they can bottle it up and make a profit off of it. I also read just today an article about how some of the big banks and billionaires are doing the same thing. They’re buying up all the water and all the land with water on it. They’re locking down water rights like there’s no tomorrow. The government is even doing their part in this wickedness by punishing private citizens from harvesting rain water that falls on their own private property. Some poor guy got locked up for 30 days for the sin of collecting rainwater that fell on HIS property. Alternatively, corporations are okay to go and buy up all the water and land they can get their claws on. A source from Esquire magazine was quoted as saying that water is the oil of the 21st century. The banks and rich folk are hoarding all the water and are using the influence to prevent the little people from getting on their own so that they can bottle and sell it for 10 times the cost when public supplies run out.
This is how the human race responds to a potential crisis? The rich and affluent hoard and scheme in order to ensure they can make money off the need of the people? Call me a crazy optimist, but I’d think this would be a situation where we would all rally and find a way to make sure everyone will have access to clean water. The rich could use their resources to find solutions to this problem. How about all the snow that fell in the east? Why couldn’t we have packed that all up and dropped it on the mountains over here? Just an idea floated by my cousin. Seems overly simple, but why wouldn’t that work? Cooling systems could keep the snow cold and it could be dumped right onto the mountains over here. Like air drops of water when there are fires.
I just don’t understand why the reaction to a potential environmental crisis is to exploit the situation for profit over the welfare of the people. This is a serious problem in this country. The rich have become cold and sociopathic. They don’t care what happens to anyone outside of their own sphere. Many don’t, but when they don’t care, it doesn’t stop there. They take it one step further and actually take actions that could harm the masses. I don’t know what the future of the world looks like to them. If those they consider beneath them are gone, what will they do? There won’t be anyone to work for them and make them money. There won’t be any servants to tend to them. They don’t seem to get that we all need each other. Whether directly or indirectly, our lives are connected so closely, if there was any major shift, we would all feel the pain. There is no immunity. Money offers no protection.
The government should also take note of this. If they align themselves with the rich and entitled, they’re going to learn they backed the wrong horse. What is a nation with no people? What is a politician with no support?
I’m just having some very sobering visions of a future where basic needs become luxuries controlled only by the very rich. It’s happening before our very eyes and no one sees it, or wants to; but you will see it when it happens, but then it’ll be too late. When will the human race finally start learning from its past mistakes? The problem is just starting now. We can fix this one. We just need to be wise enough to see it and strong enough to do what must be done.

Discrimination IN The Heartland

Okay, Indiana Governor signed into law a bill that legalizes discriminating based on religious freedom. Despite everyone in the world telling him ‘no’. Despite the threat of losing millions of dollars in revenue. He and his holier than thou constituents don’t care. Their righteous indignation is worth more to them. I read an article from a law professor at a university in IN and as I read it, all I could wonder was what kind of morons does this state churn out? You are a student of law and you think this bill is good or fair? It is out and out discrimination. It gives people a blank check to discriminate anyone whenever they want. All they have to do is cry ‘religious freedom’. Let’s not forget this bill, which deals mostly with the private sector, is pointless because any business can reserve the right to refuse service. That’s already a thing. If you don’t want the business, fine. Just make sure you know what you’re getting into when you agree to provide your services. Next, who the Hell is going to determine if any ‘religious freedoms’ are being violated? I mean, is there a stick you can put in someone’s mouth to gauge their religious convictions or can anyone just say that it’s a violation of their delicate nature, when in reality they’re just narrow minded hate mongers? I also wonder if this bill goes both ways. If I were a business owner in IN, and I had a customer I knew to be a ultra-right wing bible thumping nut, could I refuse service to them because their system of beliefs conflict with my ‘religious freedom’? I have a feeling it doesn’t cut both ways. If a gay business owner were to refuse service, they would be persecuting the poor, beleaguered Christian. I love this reverse persecution crap. For centuries the white Christians have pushed and bullied the world and now that they’re getting some push back, they cry like bitches and suddenly they’re the real victims of the evil minorities. I say to them, ALL of them, this world is not yours. You don’t own everything and you’re not always right. Your beliefs are as important and valid as those of someone else. Say that over to yourselves over and over. The main man Jesus Christ himself said ‘Your thoughts are not my thoughts, and my ways are not your ways.’ There! He got it! Why can’t you? Honestly, if even half of you behaved like true Christians, True True Christians, this world would be a much better place. To inform, true Christians do NOT judge or condemn. They accept and love. They do not protest funerals or chant songs of hate in public. They donate their time to those less fortunate, again without judgment. Either get with the program or get a new name for yourselves, because shit like this drags God’s good name through the mud. And if we are on the receiving end of any divine wrath, it’s probably because of all of you using God’s words and Jesus’s teachings to propel hate and wickedness.

Words We Must Remove 2

Okay, it’s been a while, but I’ve been trying to compile more words that need to be abolished. It’s a full time job.

The next word on my list is one I have had an issue with for some time now. and, (drumroll)

Yes, ‘Bro’. There is no word in the slang culture that curdles my blood more. First, whenever anyone says it, they sound like a colossal douche. I know some of you frat guys out there don’t think I could possibly mean you, but I do. I mean you more than anyone else. You don’t see it, but if you could you would see how completely insufferable you sound when you say this to your friends. It’s really annoying when you say it to someone you just meet. If I meet you and you call me bro, you will be corrected. We are not brothers. We are not related and turn your baseball cap the right way around, with the bill sticking out over your eyes. That’s why they put it there. To block the sun. Or wear your sunglasses. Choose one! You look so stupid when you wear both. I’d also like to have a little English lesson here because I have heard this in Youtube videos. When you see this ‘Bros.’ it is pronounced ‘Brothers’. The period indicates it’s short form for brothers. The whole word. It is ‘Super Mario BROTHERS’. Not ‘Super Mario Bros’. You aren’t cool when you shorten words like that. You just sound like you don’t know how to speak English and your parents are flushing their hard earned money away on whatever school you’re going to. You read the books and take the tests. How about showing off that fancy education by speaking like an actual human being? The party ends after college. It really does. There are higher expectations of you.

Words We Must Remove

There are some terms in our culture that I think need to be taken away and buried for the rest of time. These words make me die a little every time I see or hear them. I will be continuing this list over time because I haven’t bothered to list them all right now, but for now I’ll let’s start the ball rolling with:

Okay. Hack. Now when I was a lad, that word was used in connection to people who would hack into computers and computer systems. That use is valid and fine. However today we have the term ‘Life Hack’ which has now been shortened to simply ‘Hack’. Figuring out that those Chinese food boxes can be unfolded to become plates for your food is not a hack! It’s just a little convenience that was discovered. You can’t go into ‘life’ and hack it. There are no shortcuts or tricks in life. You live it. There’s no coding for life. What is, is. Simple as that. Any little technique you discover to make one little bit of your life easier is NOT a hack. Martha Stewart was not sharing ‘hacks’ with us. She just had some advice to make your Christmas dinners more elegant. We must stop using this word at once! Or I may have to go to the other definition of hack that is more associated with hatchets.
